How It Was Started

Give For Gold was started after an 18 year old boy, Aaron Gold, took his own life on November 26th, 2005. He succeeded with this tragedy in an apartment in Tucson, Arizona. This foundation was started to raise money for suicide prevention in the United States.

Suicide Facts

Suicide is the third leading cause of death in the United States for people ages 15-24, and it's the sixth leading cause of death for people ages 10-14. The number of reported suicide's have increased in the past few years. About 1 in 5 teenagers seriously think about attempting suicide. A little more than 1 in 6 teenagers make actual plans to go through with suicide, and more than 1 in 12 make a suicide attempt. Those are just yearly numbers.

Bracelets are done, and being sold for $2 each. They are purple and say "AMG 9/27/87-11/26/05". If you would like to purchase one, let me know ASAP. The money will be donated to the yellow-ribbon organization. Thank you so much!

What YOU Can Do

Don't be silent. Speak up. If you know of a friend that is having suicidal thoughts or feelings, you could be the one to save their life, even if it does risk a friendship. Don't keep their life in your hands. Tell someone, anyone. (Parent, teacher, social worker, counselor, school nurse, school psychologist, etc.)

Donations

If you want to make a donation to Give For Gold, please e-mail me (soccermegz07@yahoo.com) and let me know your name, and how much you're giving. Donation's can be made in cash or a check. Every dollar counts!
